Enjoy the greenery!

photo 2 Multnomah Falls

Week of June 9th-13th: Driving down I-84 towards Vancouver, WA I got off in search of a gas station and bumped into Multnomah Falls! Co-workers have always told me about the falls, but I’ve never made it a destination, until now. By pure luck I was able to take in the beauty and power of the largest fall in the state of Oregon. The fall drops in two major steps as you can see in the photos….it’s a looong way down (the upper falls measure 542 feet and the lower falls measure 69 feet, with a gradual 9 foot drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is noted as 620 feet-Wikipedia).  Unfortunately, I did not have hiking gear to make my way up Larch Mountain, which was more than a heartbreak because the weather was perfect! But, I’ll definitely make my way back here some day.

Lesson of the day: Although traveling alone and sneaking selfies when no one is looking can sometimes be overwhelming and depressing, never hesitate to document the moment…sometimes just sometimes, someone will feel bad and ask if you want a normal picture. This is how I’ve come across the nicest and also oddest individuals. Anyhow, just as I was missing home and taking a selfie to send my boyfriend, a nice middle-aged man asked to take my phone for a ‘quality picture’. The man was moving from San Francisco, CA to White Salmon, WA. I mentioned that I recently moved to the bay area and he went on to tell me of the beauty and adventure that the city holds, as well as his journey up north and his memories at Multnomah Falls.

Humans carry so much with them, always remember there is so much to learn from anyone anywhere.
